Advice for Dieters

It's how you eat.


Eat regularly.
Nature is rhythmic, and your body adjusts to natural cycles and regular events. The cycle of hunger and satiety is such an event.  Timing is important for good digestion, providing optimum quantities of digestive fluids and enzymes at the right time.  Eating regularly will increase assimilation of nutrients and provide you with more energy from less food.

Notice the food.
As you eat, notice when you are thinking about something else.  After you notice this, and after you have forgiven yourself for allowing your attention to stray, return your attention to your mouth. As you chew, pay attention to the flavors and textures.  You will be satisfied by less food.

Eat moderately.
There are a bewildering array of diet theories, but despite efforts to persuade you otherwise, calories count, and counting them is a good idea. If you eat more that 1,500 calories a day you will not likely loose weight, no matter how much exercise you get.  If you eat fewer than 1,000 calories a day you will probably not persevere long enough to obtain meaningful results.

Enjoy hunger.
Feeling hungry is the feeling of loosing weight.
If you are fat, hunger is good for you.   Hunger rarely lasts long on a diet, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Get A Life.
Overeating is a sign that food is too important in your life. There are other pleasures in life besides food. Add something pleasurable to your life. Learn something, try something, start something, go somewhere. Challenge yourself.

 

Perseverance furthers
