The TCM Diagnosis for any type of hepatits is usually Damp Heat in Liver and/or Spleen. Individual diagnosis determines how much is dampness and how much is heat. The constitution of the patient and the severity of the disease must also be weighed in creating a prescription. Diagnosis is made according to the Four Examinations.
Herbs such as Yin Chen, Pu Gong Yin, Cang Zhu, Zhi Zi, and Chai Hu are used to cool and dredge the Liver. Liver tonics such as shu di huang, bai shao, and han lian cao are also frequently added.
