Properties: The herb is pungent, sweet and slightly bitter, and neutral in nature.
It is atributed to the Liver
Xiang Fu is dispersing, purging, yet mild. It promotes Qi circulation, soothes the liver and regulates liver-Qi.
Cyprus is important for soothing the liver and regulating menstruation.
Effects: Regulates menstruation and alleviates pain
Indications for use:
Used in combination with bupleurum, bitter orange and other herbs for soothing the liver and regulating the flow of Qi to treat distention, fullness and pain in the chest and hypochondrium caused by stagnation of the liver-Qi
Used with Chinese angelica root, chuanxiong rhizome, bupleurum root and other herbs for regulating menstruation and alleviating pain, irregular menstruation and dysmenorrhea.
Used with evodia fruit, common fennel fruit, lindera root for promoting dispersing cold and alleviating pain, to treat accumulation of cold in liver channel, gastro-intestinal pain due to invasion of cold and with galangal rhizome for warming the middle jiao
