This formula was first published in the Wen Bing Tiao Bian (Systematic Differentiation of Warm Diseases) by Dr. Wu Ju Tong in the year 1798.

SERVING:
At the First Sign of Cold : Take six pills immediately, then four every four hours for the rest of the day. If symptoms persist, continue to take four every four hours. If symptoms persist beyond the second day, switch to Dr. Shen's Zong Gan Ling.

For Prevention: Take three tablets every four hours when exposed to cold .

Children: Use one tablet for each 25 lbs. of body weight. Crush and mix with food.

SUGGESTED USE:
Keep a dozen tablets in your car, purse, or pocket during cold and season. Take promptly.

Begin taking tablets a half hour before entering airports, airplanes, terminals, or crowded public facilities.

PRACTITIONER NOTES:
This classic formula is widely popular because of its ability to treat upper burner disorders without injury to the middle burner.

Unlike some Yin Chiao imported from China, Dr. Shen's Yin Chiao contains no drugs, dyes, pharmaceuticals, animal products, or unlisted ingredients. Each tablet contains a generous amount (750 mgs.) of premium grade wildcrafted herbs. Each tablet is also coated with natural food glaze and shaped for easy swallowing.

Though Dr. Shen's Yin Chiao is considered a Wind Heat formula, it is traditionally used, and effective for, both Wind Heat and Wind Cold patterns. However, using this formula for Damp conditions can require the addition of herbs or formulas such as Er Chen Wan to dry dampness and leech dampness from the tissue.

Superior to other formulas used for Wind Cold, Dr. Shen's Yin Chiao is suitable for patients who present with dryness due to deficiency of Blood or Yin. This is because of the mild and non-drying nature of the herbs used in this formula.

THE LEGEND:
Long ago, old Mr. He became lost in the forest. Years later, those who found him were astonished. The old man's hair had turned from white to black. In order to sustain himself, he lived on the root of the common wild vine Polygoni Multiflori.Today, the plant bears his name, He Shou Wu (Old Mr. He). In the West this root is known as Shou Wu or FoTi.

TODAY:
Modern day doctors of Oriental Medicine use this herb to strengthen the Blood and the Jing in order to treat alopecia, prevent premature hair loss or greying, and to regulate excessive aging. Dr. Shen's Shou Wu Pill contains only five years old or older, export grade (the highest) He Shou Wu (90%). Small amounts (5%) of premium Poria are added to enhance digestibility and absorption. Chuanxiong (5%) is added as a messenger herb, to invigorate the He Shou Wu and direct the action of the formula upward to the head.

The herb Angelica Sinensis, Dang Gui (Tang Kwei) should never be administered as a single herb. It is always combined with other herbs. The blend used in Dr. Shen's Woman's Precious Pill is the most widely used of these combinations. It brings out the best qualities of the herb while eliminating any unwanted effects.Though this formula is used as a daily supplement to maintain good health, it is also used to treat symptoms related to deficiencies such as: Fatigue, weakness, menstrual irregularities, tired limbs, pallor, pale tongue, infertility, shortness of breath or palpitations, lightheadedness, reduced appetite.

Dr. Shen's Woman's Precious Pills, like most modern versions of this formula, uses Dang Shen (Codonopsis) instead of Ren Shen (Ginseng), making it cost effective, more tonifying to the Spleen, and helping the user to better assimilate the four Blood tonic herbs.

TRADITIONAL SERVING:
Four to Six tablets are recommended daily for health maintenance. Relieving symptoms can require nine to twelve or more tablets daily. Ideally, these are taken in three doses, preferably on an empty stomach. Compliance, however, may improve when taken twice-a-day, half in the morning and half in the evening.

COURSE OF USE:
The course of use is a minimum of one month and a maximum of eleven months per year.

The pills can also be taken together with Dr. Shen's Free and Easy Pills (also known as Shao Yao Wan) to help circulation and drainage while still strengthening the Blood.

SUGGESTION:
Like most Chinese herbal tonics (strengtheners), discontinue during colds.

PRACTITIONER NOTES:
This formula will work for a variety of etiologies, but it is most suited for constipation arising from deficiency of Yin or Blood. Dr. Shen's Rhubarb Rx draws on two versions of Run Chang Wan (Moisten Intestines Pill). It uses Mai Men Dong (Opthopogon) instead of Huo Ma Ren (Marijuana seeds), making the formula more tonifying without loss of lubrication. Cooked or processed rhubarb can have an astringent, binding effect. Dr. Shen's Rhubarb Rx uses quality unprocessed Chinese rhubarb rhizome. This maximizes the plant's anthraglycosides, potentiating its laxative properties. Therefore, this product should not be used to treat diarrhea, and is always contraindicated for patients with loose stool, spleen deficiency or diarrhea. Like any strong downward-draining medicine, Dr. Shen's Rhubarb Rx should not be used during pregnancy.

SUGGESTED USE:
Yang and Jing medicines such as Shen Clinic's Man's Treasure are used to treat low male sexual function, including the inability to get or maintain an erection. Called Nan Bao in Chinese, these medicines also are used for infertility and premature ejaculation.
